Tour A:
Saldanha Bay - Jacobsbaai Sea Farm (abalone, oysters and fish) and Sea Harvest Mussel Farm are located near and in the fishing village of Saldanha Bay. This tour will take you past The West Coast National Park, through the town of Langebaan and will include lunch at the Meerestijn Restaurant. Leaves Cape Town early (~8.30am) and returns the same day. Cost R200.00Tour B:
Hermanus - This tour will take you to Hermanus New Harbour where several abalone farms and processing facilities are located. Hermanus is a picturesque town in the heart if the abalone fishery in South Africa. This tour will include lunch at Bietangs Cave in Hermanus. Leaves Cape Town early (~8.30am) and returns the same day. Cost R200.00C. Potential Tour -
Port Nolloth Sea Farms (PNSF) is located on the north-west coast about a 7 hour drive through rugged countryside, from Cape Town. Port Nolloth is located within the famous west-coast alluvial diamond fields of Southern Africa and a tour of the abalone farm (possibly including a snorkel dive on the seeded abalone sites - weather permitting) as well as a tour of some of the diamond jigging facilities, can be arranged. This tour would take three days (2 nights) from Cape Town and costs will be dependent on the number of participants. It will take place after the Symposium (12-15th February). We will arrange the tour if there are enough participants (minimum 8 people). Participation must be arranged in consultation with management of Port Nolloth Sea Farms who will be present at the symposium. Please watch the Symposium Notice Board.D. Potential Tour - Marine Growers,
Port Elizabeth. Port Elizabeth is located in the Eastern Cape (about 8 hours drive from Cape Town). Marine Growers abalone farm is located nearby PE. This tour would take three days (2 nights) from Cape Town and costs will be dependent on the number of participants. It will take place after the Symposium (12-15th February). There are some game parks that are accessible from the location. We will arrange the tour if there are enough participants (minimum 8 people). Participation must be arranged in consultation with management of Marine Growers who will be present at the symposium.
